A Morten Sondergaard Adventure
"Because It Can Be Done"
We are a group of entrepreneurs living in Mallorca. One day, Morten Sondergaard decided to take a single-engine Pilatus PC-12 and travel around the world. He invited some friends to join him, and "The Smiling Flyer" was born.
This trip is about men who have built their professional lives by taking risks, and who see the risk on this trip as a natural way of having fun. People have asked us why we are doing the SmilingFlyer.
The simple answer is: "Because it can be done."
60,000 km through some of the most remote areas of the world
We took off from Mallorca, Spain on November 3rd, 2007 and visited: Crete, Egypt, Dubai, Maldives, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Tonga, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, Easter Island, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Fernando de Noronha, Cape Verde, Morocco, and back to Spain.
Over 60,000 km through some of the most remote areas of the world, completed in 4 legs over 4 months.
Palma de Mallorca through Crete, Egypt, Dubai, Maldives, India, and on to Bangkok, Thailand. The adventure begins with the first taste of the extraordinary.
From Bangkok through Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and across the vast Pacific to Sydney, Australia. Remote islands and unforgettable encounters.
Sydney across the Pacific Ocean via Tonga, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, and Easter Island to Santiago de Chile. The most daring leg of the journey.
Chile through Uruguay, Brazil, Fernando de Noronha, Cape Verde, Morocco, and home to Palma de Mallorca. The triumphant return.
A single-engine turboprop that proved it could take on the world
The Pilatus PC-12 is a single-engine turboprop aircraft manufactured by Pilatus Aircraft of Switzerland. Our G-ZUMO was configured to seat 8 passengers and proved to be the perfect companion for this extraordinary journey, handling everything from short tropical runways to high-altitude mountain approaches.
